Important Tips for Applying

  • If your gas and electric services are combined (Consumers Energy), you can only apply for SER once per year.

  • Always submit separate SER applications for each utility type (electric, gas, water) to maximize assistance.

  • Food assistance is often more readily available than utility aid. If you need help with food assistance, 211 can connect you to food resources, freeing up funds for your utility bills.
